Longing for nature

In a mysterious way, nature magically attracts us. It gives us energy, serenity and joie de vivre and allows us to take a deep breath. And there is something else that nature can do. It never ceases to amaze us.

In the Lüneburger Heide, nature is a special treasure. Encounters with it fascinate, overwhelm and relax us. The infinitely wide view over fog-covered heath areas. Watching a kingfisher foraging for food. Being on the move in time with the bleating of the moorland sheep. These are intense experiences that make us forget everyday life.

Let the Lüneburger Heide cast its spell on you. Lace up your hiking boots, saddle your bike or paddle at eye level with nature. Satisfy your longing for nature here.
Since 1964, the Naturpark Südheide has been designated as a region worthy of protection. With an area of about 500 km² it has an impressive extension and is characterised by large forest, moor, wetland and heather areas. The variety of landscape and nature is a real explorer's paradise for nature lovers. Those who are also looking for peace and solitude are absolutely right here.

Forest bathing in the nature park Südheide

Welcome to pure nature

Recreation - relaxation - unwind

If you really immerse yourself in the forest, you are doing something for your health - in Japan, forest bathing is considered medicine. The Japanese "Shinrin Yoku" means as much as "bathing in the forest air". Here we do not bathe in a body of water, but enjoy the various imposing trees, the wonderful shrubs, mosses, berries and more. Forest bathing has a wonderful effect on body, mind and soul. Just looking at all the greenery relaxes, relieves stress, lifts your spirits and leads to an inner balance.

Forest bathing

The forest has a special atmosphere. Experience the freshness, coolness and pleasant humidity as well as the wonderful silence. Listen and experience the delicate sounds of the forest. The Naturpark Südheide offers countless paths for forest bathing, most of them with designated hiking trails. Forest bathing is a festival for your senses. You smell, hear and taste everything, in spring the young green, in summer the mild air, in autumn the dew and in winter the endless silence.

Experience the forest

Get out, get away. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, away from the many obligations. Come to us for relaxing forest bathing in the Naturpark Südheide. Here you can completely unwind and unplug from your daily routine - we support you with many tips and suggestions. We have numerous maps and brochures ready for you and will tell you where it is especially beautiful. We are also happy to take you on a romantic ➜ carriage ride, the mobile version of forest bathing. You can't get any closer to nature.

Experience nature from a different perspective - Enjoy beautiful hours on the water!

The rivers of the Südheide invite you to an eventful boat trip: Paddling on the Aller, the heath river Örtze or even the Lachte and the Fuhse in the Celle region, you will have the opportunity to view the unique landscape from a completely different perspective for once.

Paddling on the Örtze River

If you want to go canoeing or kayaking on the idyllic heath river Örtze, you can use the easily accessible entry and exit points and picnic areas. The pristine nature of this clear heath river and the varied landscape will leave you amazed.

River experience Aller

Broad, quiet and unhurried, the Aller draws its shimmering blue ribbon looping through the landscape. Its calm flowing speed magically attracts river hikers. The Aller is navigable all year round, it is also suitable for larger groups and multi-day tours. We will be happy to help you find the right route and suitable boat rental.

At eye level with nature - paddling in Südheide

The blooming heather / die Heideblüte

A purple paradise

In August and September, large parts of the Naturpark Südheide turn into a purple sea. A wide variety of hikes and discovery tours await our guests. Dreamy landscapes with secluded paths offer an unimagined wealth of experiences. The heather, in German called “Heidekraut“ (Calluna vulgaris - broom heather), is endangered in its existence and was therefore chosen by the Loki Schmidt Foundation as flower of the year in 2019.
A place to relax and find peace can be found everywhere. However, the most beautiful is an individual carriage ride with our air-suspended wagonette.

If you want to experience the heath blossom, remember this rule of thumb: You can see the flowers from 08.08. till 09.09.

Rutting season of the stags

An autumn spectacle

Directly at the TraumzeitHof - at the edge of the forest in direct sight - the red deer are grazing. Today, a big twelve-headed deer and its herd are paying their respects. With the naked eye we can watch the animals from the house. At the time of the rut the roaring of the stags resounds over our pastures. On the right as well as on the left of the road the herds are standing. We also get to see cranes, white storks, deer, foxes and other wild animals up close. Not far away at the Aschauteichen live sea eagles, otters, egrets, black storks and many other rare animals. If you take your time, you can expect experiences in abundance. For those interested in deer rutting you can book an individual guide with us following the next button or sending us an e-mail to kontakt@traumzeithof.de.
